TEMIZ™ Polar RP Pyridine

Polar RP Pyridine is a mesoporous, rigid polymeric resin with a combination of hydrophilic and lipophilic properties for use in separation, batch binding or scavenging.

800 m2/g

The resin chemistry backbone consists of highly stable DVB-Styrene with polar, weakly basic pyridine groups.

Other providers of cross-linked pyridine resins have low rigidity, with lower levels of cross-linkage. Temiz Polar RP resins have exceptionally high levels of cross-linkage that provide the highest level of resin rigidity on the market.

The flat aromatic structure of pyridine allows for pi-pi interactions with other aromatic compounds.

Weakly basic pyridine group can also act as resin-bound catalyst instead of eg pyridine in solution.

Resin bound pyridine can scavenge strong acids, metals, and other ionic species via ion-exchange mechanisms.

Published example with a similar material binding natural polyphenolic compounds: “Capture and Purification of Polyphenols Using Functionalized Hydrophobic Resins”, Marcelo Silva, Leydi Castellanos, Marcel Ottens, Ind Eng Chem Res. 2018 Apr 18;57(15):5359-5369.

The large particles are optimal for preparative applications for both in adsorption in suspension or chromatographic processes.
