Solid Phase Synthesis Material Concepts
Redstone Separations AB develops and produces solid phase synthesis resins for various types of supported, step-wise chemical reactions and synthesis. The most prominent application area is the prepration of API peptides and oligonucleotides.Â
Current product example | New concepts and prototype materials |
PS with 1 % Styrene With high swelling, but poor for flow | 5 – 10 % Styrene or more With lower swelling, but good for flow |
TentaGel PEGA ChemMatrix (discontinued) | PDMA bead variants for hydrophilic SPPS With higher loadings, adjustable swelling New alternative to discontinued resins (ChemMatrix) |
Kinovate | DVB/PS AM medium rigidity for oligonucleotide solid phase synthesis |
By maintaining in-house control over every stage of production, we ensure a level of predictability and quality that the market demands. Custom variants are also available with industry-leading lead times to deliver solutions in a short time.
An example of novel hydrophilic concepts and ideas of beaded materials were presented in a poster at the Danish Peptide Symposium April 2026 in Copenhagen, Denmark:
Hydrophilic / hydrophobic spectrum concept overview
1. Fully hydrophilic with PDMA and amide based amine anchor
2. Mainly hydrophilic with PDMA backbone and aromatic hydrophobic benzyl amine anchor
3. Mainly hydrophobic PS backbone with hydrophilic amide based amine anchor
4. Mainly hydrophobic PS backbone with aromatic benzyl amine anchor
Variations and combinations on rigidity/swelling, hydrophilicity tuning, loading and alternative surfache chemistries are possible to design and to provide for testing.
A speculation is that the adaptation to the right hydrophilicity / hydrophobicity balance might be beneficial for the synthesis of certain difficult peptides.
Preview of new hydrophilic polydimethylacrylamide based SPPS resin
SABIT PDMA, a new highly polar solid phase synthesis prototype for peptides or other compounds. A potential alternative to discontinued ChemMatrix or PEGA resins.
Swelling of material in polar/aqueous solvents can be engineered toÂ
- 5 ml/gÂ
- 8 ml/gÂ
- other, pls inquire
Â
The material shape is spherical with improved mechanical stability compared to alternative equivalent materials.Â
Example of standard particle size distribution is 75-300 µm but other sizes can be provided upon request.
The material is highly hydrophilic, only consisting of cross-linked dimethylacrylamide and functionalized with aliphatic aminoethyl groups. Loading of material is currently at 0.5 mmol/g of primary aminoethyl groups. Higher or lower loadings can be provided.
Other uses: on-bead assays, direct enzymatic screenings, combinatorial library assays, as affinity solid phase in chromatography.
 Tailor-made resins
Redstone Separations AB employs proprietary synthetic resin architecture technologies in the resin production to provide alternate, novel or improved performance. Redstone Separations AB offers tailor-made resins that can be adapted to eg specific peptide sequences to optimize production economics – as each peptide may require an optimal resin for production. Adaptations can be on: cross-linkage, loading, back-bone chemistry, resin architecture, particle size or type of Linker. Â
A broad variety of solid phase support materials can be designed and provided, also at large industrial scale. We offer custom synthesis of a solid support material adapted for your application. We can provide novel resins with a fast turn-around time.Â
Pls see our offering of custom made tailored resin service.
