TEMIZ™ DVB-WAX MP
Material overview
TEMIZ DVB-WAX MP Resin are polymeric resins based on highly stable DVB-Styrene with polar weak anion exchange (WAX) tertiary amine groups.
Typical properties of the resins are:
- Porosity: mesoporous – optimal for small molecules
- Cross-linking: moderate cross-linkage
- Particle size: ca 200 – 1200 µm
- Capacity: ca 1 mmol/ml
The resins are characterized by its good rigidity and high loading of tertiary amine groups. The surface can be free amine or chloride or other counter anion.
Redstone has 4 WAX resin variants (WAX005-WAX008) in-house that are similar in specifications, but differ in capacity and, more importantly, in resin architecture and could give different results depending on the application.
It is well known that resins with essentially identical specifications can behave very differently for a given application. Hence, it is wise to test a library of a candidate resin to evaluate for a given separation challenge.
Applications
Typical uses for weak anion exchangers are for binding to opposite charged ionic species in various types of solutions including pharmaceutical mixtures or biological extracts or plant-based extracts.
The functional group is also effective as a scavenger with potentially more facile elution than from strong anion exchangers.
