The resin chemistry backbone consists of highly stable DVB-Styrene with polar cyclic amide (pyrrolidone) groups.
With a new surface chemistry combination, this material offers a new selectivity for retaining organic compounds. Its unique rigid structure allows effective binding in both aqueous and non-aqueous / organic solutions.
The combination of hydrophilic together with hydrophobic groups offers new interaction possibilities in terms of balance between those opposity polarities. Adsorption of molecules will differ from conventional polymeric reversed phase (RP) materials that are only based on cross-linked styrene. Also the desorption will differ and therefore this new material will offer novel selectivities for separation and fractionation.
The large particles are optimal for preparative applications for both in adsorption in suspension or chromatographic processes.
The large portion of pyrrolidone moeities on the resin surface renders the material water wettable. In the picture above, a generic hydrophobic RP (DVB/Sty) resin does not absorb water and remains floating on the water surface. But Temiz RR Pyrrolidone resin, also having a DVB/Sty backbone, with an appreciable number of polar pyrrolidone groups on the resin surface is therefore water-wettable. It soaks up water and therefore sinks to the bottom of the vial.Â
The compatibility with water enables the use of this resin in aqueous binding tests without the need of additional organic solvents to pre-wet the resin before use. Typical reversed phase resins, before they can be employed for adsorption of compounds in water, need a conditioning step involving a polar organic solvents such as an alcohol or acetone. Temiz RR Pyrrolidone can be employed directly and obviates the need for additional flammable solvents prior to use. This feature saves 2 steps compared to the use of conventional reversed phase resins.
This resin has been demonstrated to effectively bind a broad variety of organic molecules from water. It binds hydrophobic compounds, such as steroids. It also binds highly polar molecules such as active pharmaceutical compounds or other ionic or polar organic molecules. Inquire to see if your molecule can also be effectively adsorbed.Â
